Paulina Piaskowska: How I Became A SUSOnian
Author: Paulina Piaskowska, Content Specialist
Tell Us A Bit About Yourself?
Hello! I’m Paulina, a cat mum, a music and literature enjoyer, and a Content Writer at SUSO.
I started my journey in the company at the very beginning of 2022 and have been responsible for preparing content for our clients. This involves everything from doing research and writing to editing and optimising existing content.
What First Attracted You to Joining SUSO?
I found SUSO’s job listing when I was looking for new opportunities. I wanted to work in a company that places emphasis on the growth of its employees, creating opportunities for training and development. That’s what I found here.
I was also impressed with SUSO’s people-first culture, which turned out to be more than just a handful of empty slogans. From the start of the recruitment process up until now, I have been able to experience it first-hand. At every stage of my work and training in the company, I was met with understanding, engagement, and a high level of professionalism.
What Does A Typical Day at SUSO Look Like For You?
I usually start my days by logging into all of my company accounts. I check my email first to see if there are any new messages or notifications I should be aware of. For example, if I see that a client left comments on one of the articles I wrote, I can address them head-on.
The next item on the agenda is editing – every article that’s written or optimised is proofread and double checked by a second pair of eyes to catch any misspellings or errors. Most of the writers in the Content Team are also editors, so we have a lot of opportunities to learn from each other throughout this process (which is my favourite thing about editing).
When I’m done with that, I move on to my work schedule to see what tasks are waiting on my plate for the week. If I’m not taking part in any training sessions or doing my individual courses, the rest of my day is spent researching and writing new content for our clients.
What Made You Want to Work in SEO?
Since I was a child, I have been fascinated by storytelling. I loved reading and writing, and that passion led me to finding my profession. I get to lend my voice to so many different companies, helping them tell their stories and connect with their audiences, and that is very rewarding for me.
While metrics, algorithms, and keywords are all an important part of the work we’re doing, I love that my fellow content writers and I get to bring that “human” spark to SEO, putting our creativity, passion, and craft into what we’re writing.
I believe that effective SEO creates perfect conditions for building a connection with the audience, and content creation is a crucial part of that.
What’s Your Favourite Part About Your Role?
Probably that I get to constantly learn new things! Doing research is so much fun, and while it serves our clients that we go into writing well-informed, it’s also a good exercise for my curious brain.
Thanks to my job, I know all about the best Portuguese wines, the most breathtaking National Parks of Africa, and whether strawberries are safe for dogs (spoiler alert: they are).
I acquire new information almost every day, and that knowledge I frequently use to entertain my friends. It’s much easier to fill out any awkward pauses now.
How Would You Describe The Culture at SUSO?
The basis of SUSO’s work environment is found in genuine solicitude. We have a team of fantastic professionals who, of course, are good at what they do but also are just great, friendly people to be around.
The spirit of cooperation and care can be felt throughout the whole team. And that tone is set by our management, which places a significant value on being reliable, respectful, and open to any feedback and suggestions.
What’s One SEO Tool That You Can’t Live Without?
That title would probably go to Ahrefs. It’s a really comprehensive tool that helps me with keyword and competitor research, making my job a lot easier.
What’s Been Your Proudest Moment / Fondest Memory at SUSO to Date?
I am a remote worker, so my experience of working in SUSO involves a lot of sitting by my desk, in my room, in my little hometown.
Some of my fondest memories at SUSO involve celebrating SUSO Days with everyone in Poznań, when we get to meet (sometimes for the first time), talk about upcoming changes, and simply have fun together.
It’s always a special time in the company when excitement and joy can be felt in the air. It’s like a family reunion, and I look forward to it every time.
